Research: Choosing Peripheral Parts for PC
Objectives:
To become familiar with picking computer peripherals. Choose parts that would fit in a
typical desktop system.
Procedure:
Go to a computer parts web site to select peripherals to add to a desktop system.
You can go anywhere you would like such as
Amazon
or New
Egg or anywhere else you may use.
1. You need to find a gaming video card. It should have 8G of RAM and fit a PCIex16 slot. Keep the price around $500.
2. Find a USB video card/adapter.
3. Find a video capture expansion card that has two ports either HDMI, Display ports, VGA or DVI and fits a PCIe x1 slot. Cost is not limited.
4. Find a USB 3.1 expansion card with Type C connector support.
5. Find a USB flash or hard drive drive that has the Type C connector. The ones I found have both
Type A and C.
6. Find a Thunderbolt expansion card. The one I found has both Thunderbolt and
USB 3.1.
7. Find an external USB 3.1 hard drive with
8TB of storage, any type.
8. Find a "Connect Wireless" Flash Drive from SanDisk, which connects either through Wi-Fi
to a system, it can also have regular USB.
9. Find a rollup type keyboard with any connector type.
10. Find a USB cup heater to keep your coffee warm.
Put images or shopping cart images next to the questions into a
document to upload to Lab #6 assignment. Each item is worth 10 points each and
the lab is worth 100 points.
